The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shukry, received a phone call today, April 20, from India’s Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to discuss the developments in Sudan. Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicated that the call witnessed a review of the efforts that Egypt is making through its contacts with various international and regional parties to reach a sustainable cease-fire, explaining that Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the necessity of integrating efforts and urged the Sudanese parties to To reach this goal in order to preserve the lives and property of the brotherly Sudanese people.

For his part, the Indian minister appreciated Egypt’s mediation efforts for a cease-fire in Sudan, pointing to his country’s deep concern about the repercussions of the ongoing military confrontations and their impact on Sudanese civilians and foreign nationals present there, expressing India’s aspiration to coordinate with Egypt. In order to contribute to providing protection for Indian nationals who are in Sudan, which was welcomed by Minister Sameh Shukri.

 This, and the two sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation during the coming days.
