Cairo receives German Foreign Minister 28-29 as political talks prepared

German Foreign Minister Heiko Mas will visit Cairo on 28-29 October for political talks. During his visit, he will meet President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

Mas will also inaugurate a new building attached to the German Evangelical High School.

Mas’s talks will focus primarily on regional issues such as the situation in Libya and Syria as well as bilateral relations.

The German Ambassador in Cairo, Dr. Cyril van Nun, expressed his delight at this visit. The visit is part of a series of high-level exchanges of visits. The latest visit was when the German Federal Chancellor came to Egypt in February of this year.

The numerous visits of specialized ministers and expert delegations underscore the mutual interest and intensive contacts in all political fields.

It is worth mentioning that Germany and Egypt have close relations in various fields, with the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in 2018 amounted to more than 4.5 billion euros, and some German companies are present and represented in all branches of the Egyptian economic sector.

The Germans represent the largest foreign tourist group visiting Egypt. The German-Egyptian development cooperation portfolio includes € 1.6 billion, and cultural relations between the two countries are very close.

The central administration of German schools abroad. There are seven German schools accredited in Egypt, more than the number of German schools in the United States or China. It should be noted that more than 95% of the pupils and students of these schools are Egyptians.

Egypt, as the current Chairperson of the African Union and Germany, as a member of the UN Security Council, currently has a great responsibility and a common interest in peace and security in the region.
