Egypt forms National Governance Committee under chairmanship of Ambassador Ashraf Rashid

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail ordered the establishment of the National Governance Committee Thursday under the chairmanship of Ambassador Ashraf Rashid.

The committee is comprised of 19 public figures representing various sectors, including the parliament, women, civil society, media, academics, research centers, people with special needs, youth, federation of industries and chambers of commerce.

The committee, which is established under the African Union’s umbrella, seeks to develop a strategy to fulfill the requirements of the African peer review mechanism, develop an action plan to prepare a self-assessment report, follow up with the AU Panel of Eminent African Personalities, and to hold talks with the concerned parties to discuss the report and to approve its final version.
