President Abdel Fattah El Sisi highlighted on Thursday the importance of enhancing Egyptian-Vietnamese relations in the various domains.

The remark was made during Sisi’s visit to the Vietnamese National Assembly (parliament) where he had a meeting with Speaker Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan earlier in the day, according to presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.

During the meeting, Ngan affirmed Vietnam’s eagerness to develop relations with Egypt in the various domains, asserting that Sisi’s visit represented a new stage of fruitful bilateral cooperation.

Sisi thanked her for the warm welcome and voiced appreciation for Vietnam’s keenness on enhancing relations, describing the talks as fruitful and positive.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance relations between the parliaments of both countries to serve the best interests of both peoples.

Within this context, a joint friendship group was formed at the Vietnamese parliament, according to the spokesman. The Vietnamese house speaker also underlined the necessity of exchanging visits at all levels.

President Sisi lauded the level of women empowerment in Vietnam where a woman, he said, can be chosen to lead the parliament. Sisi noted that the current Egyptian parliament involves the largest number of female MPs in its history.
