Coping with crucial  national and international events and in memory of the  75th  anniversary of El Alamein Battle and the inauguration of the new city of Alamein, the State Information Service (SIS) prepared the book ” Alamein…from War and Destruction to Development and Urbanization” in Arabic, English and French languages and  printed it in CDs.

The book presents, in three chapters, a crucial period in Egypt’s history.  It also shows how El Alamein city was and how it became an arena for the World War II with all its fatal consequences.

The SIS Chairman Diaa’ Rashwan said that the book reviews the great efforts exerted by the Egyptian Armed Forces to tackle the issue of mines along with the sacrifices made in order to render El Alamein a promising city, and the new Alamein city  the first model of the million-people cities for the new generations. The area of  the new Alamein city is  48 thousand acres over two stages. The first of which consists of two main sectors of an area of 8 thousand acres. These sectors are:  the coastal sector including the world tourist center, and the archaeological and urban sector.

The new El Alamain city  comes within the project to develop the North West Coast to accommodate the population increase in other governorates.

The region is planned to accommodate 34 million people by 2052, not only in Alamein but over the extention of 450 kilometers along the Mediterranean coast.

The new El Alamain city  is a state’s icon of a future vision for development by defining objectives and policies, economic, social and tourism development plans, creating the necessary urban environment for sustainable development, identifying future needs for the purpose of establishing the city and defining implementation mechanisms, programs and priorities on the planning and executive levels.

The SIS is participating in the International Festival of El Alamain by preparing a press center equipped with the latest apparutus to facilitate the task of Egyptian and foreign journalists participating in the celebration.
