The permanent committee for following up the Egyptian-African relations is currently exerting strenuous efforts to promote the ties, particularly as Egypt will hold the rotating chairmanship of the African Union early in 2019, said the foreign ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Hafez, on Wednesday.
The panel, led by Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdy Sanad Loza, held several meetings with various ministries and state bodies on ways to boost the Egyptian role in Africa in all fields, added Hafez.
Those ministries and agencies are currently drawing up their visions on a unified program for promoting the Egyptian contacts with the sisterly African countries, noted the spokesman.
Proposals will also be floated on how to tackle challenges facing Egyptian companies in Africa, hafez added.
Earlier this year, the cabinet ordered to establish the permanent committee to coordinate efforts of the state ministries and bodies to enhance Cairo’s role in the African continent.
