For a new mechanism, preparations for Romanian economic delegations to Egypt

The Romanian Ambassador here Mihai Ștefan Stuparu said that preparations are under way for a visit to be paid by three Romanian economic delegations to Egypt during the first half of 2019. The delegations’ representatives of firms working in the fields of energy, petroleum, gas, foodstuff, beverages, water and waste management.The visit will be conducted within the framework of Romania’s six-month periodical presidency to the European Union (EU) as of January, the diplomat noted.

In an interview with MENA on the occasion marking Romania’s national day, Stuparu said that the third session of the Egyptian-Romanian Committee for Economic Cooperation will be held in Cairo during the first half of 2019 to probe enhancing cooperation and new mechanisms targeting luring investments in both countries.

The committee’s latest session was organized in Bucharest in June 2017, the diplomat also said, adding that Egypt and Romania pay great attention to promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in light of their important and unique geographical position in the Middle East and Europe.

He further highlighted Egypt’s efforts exerted to attract foreign investments, a matter which benefits the economic entities aspiring to do business in the Egyptian market. Romania thinks that Egypt is about to be one of Africa’s most attractive markets for foreign direct investments.

Romanian private companies are showing growing interest in investing in mega sectors such as energy and a Romanian businessmen delegation will begin a visit to Egypt on Sunday to hold talks with government officials on investment opportunities in the petroleum sector.
