BeinSports – Premier League champions Al Ahly have announced the signing of Egypt international  from .

The Reds have been in talks with Pyramids over the signing of Afsha for a long time and they finally managed to reach an agreement on Wednesday.

Rivals Zamalek tried to snatch Afsha from Al Ahly, but the player opted to join the Egyptian champions due to his long-held passion for the club.

Despite only joining Pyramids last summer, the club was open for his departure as they are letting go of their highest-paid players following the club’s sale to Emirati investor Salem Al-Shamsi this summer.

The 23-year-old made 24 appearances for Pyramids FC last summer, scoring six goals while assisting seven, helping the club finish third in the Egyptian Premier League.

He becomes Al Ahly’s fourth summer signing after bringing in Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng from MC Alger, Ismaily skipper Mahmoud Metwally, and extending Ramadan Sobhi’s loan for a further year.

Afsha is also the first player to move between Al Ahly and Pyramids FC as both clubs wanted to improve their relationship after the departure of former owner Turki Al-Sheikh.

He started his career at ENPPI, where he rose through the youth ranks, and had also a short loan spell at El-Raja Matruh in 2015.

The playmaker has represented Egypt on only one occasion, which came in a pre-World Cup friendly against Greece under the charge of former manager Hector Cuper.
