kingfut – The normalisation committee of the  headed by Amr El-Ganainy have named five candidates for the vacant Egypt job.

The Pharaohs have been without a manager since Javier Aguirre was sacked after the disappointing 2019 AFCON campaign when Egypt were knocked out from the round of 16.

This led to Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to declare that the upcoming coach for the Egyptian national team will not be a foreign manager, stressing on the importance of giving chances to national coaches.

After around two months without a manager, chairman of the normalisation committee Amr El-Ganainy has finally announced the five names in the run for Egypt job.

, and . These are the five names that are nominated for the job.

“We will announce the chosen name next week,” he added.

It’s believed that legendary manager Hassan Shehata is the front runner for the Egypt job as he is seen the man to reinstate discipline and strictness in the team.

The 72-year-old coach is arguably Egypt’s most successful manager having achieved the historical three AFCON wins in a row in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

Former Al Ahly and Egypt’s Olympic national team manager Hossam El-Badry is also a strong candidate for this position following his achievements with the Cairo giants between 2016 and 2018.

Meanwhile, current Smouha head coach Hossam Hassan has experience managing national teams, having nearly guided Jordan to the 2014 World Cup, before losing to Uruguay in the inter-confederation play-offs.

Ehab Galal and Ahmed Hossam Mido’s lack of international coaching experience could affect their chances, but their achievements in Egyptian football shouldn’t be ignored.
