Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday  17/5/2020 announced that the nationwide curfew hours will be extended to start from 5 pm till 6 am, as of next Sunday till Friday.

The first day of Eid El Fitr religious holiday will fall on Sunday 24/5/2020.

This comes as part of the precautionary measures taken by the state to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Madobuli said in a televised briefing.

The premier added that all shops, malls, restaurants, public beaches and parks will be shut down, as well as the suspension of all public transportation and bus traffic during the six days.

He asserted that harsh punishment will be imposed on citizens who do not wear medical masks when they enter any government facility or banks or any closed place.

He went on to say that the restrictions on citizens’ movement will be back to normal to start from 8 pm till 6 am as of May 30, citing that the government will announce the gradual resumption of sports activity and reopening of shops, as well as the possibility of holding some religious rites in places of worship in mid-June.

The prime minister noted that the government discussed the prospect of holding high school (Thanaweya Amma) exams on June 21.

He concluded that Eid El Fitr prayers will be aired on TV and be confined to the workers of a mosque.
