 Handing over  decision of cancelling accreditation of Guardian reporter in Cairo & a warning to NY Times reporter – SIS

The State Information Service Authority (SISA) assures its continuing efforts in facing abuses and misleading data published by the British newspaper “The Guardian” as well as the correspondent of the “New York Times” in Cairo on his account on “Twitter”. So, the journalist writer, Dia Rashwan, the head of the authority, sent a letter to the editor-in-chief of “The Guardian” included monitoring of professional errors and abuses committed by the newspaper’s correspondent in Cairo, whose most recent example was the report published by the newspaper, quoting its correspondence last Sunday, which included misleading and incorrect data on the numbers of people infected with the “Corona emerging” virus  In contradiction to what is common in the ethics of the press profession and the rules that govern the work of journalists worldwide.

In his speech, Rashwan called for the Guardian newspaper to publish an apology in the same way as publishing the wrong and abusive report to Egypt, stressing that the Information Authority retains its right to resort to legal means regarding the damage caused by the publication of these false statements.

Rashwan told the newspaper’s editor-in-chief to withdraw the accreditation of her correspondent in Cairo.
