As headding the Group of Twenty, this year the Kingdom welcomed the international call to finance the development of a vaccine, treatment and diagnostic tools for the Corona pandemic so that it is available to all at an affordable cost.
KSA (kingdom of Saudi Arabia) will co-lead the Corona Global Pledge Response Conference, which will be held today, with the participation of the European Union, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Norway.
The conference aims to raise funds to meet the urgent need of US $ 8 billion.The Global Preparedness Monitoring Council indicated that these funds must be provided urgently to develop an anti-virus vaccine in addition to providing diagnostic and treatment resources, and this global pandemic requires an international response and cooperation and priority as an international community is to protect people and their livelihoods and to ensure that everyone has opportunities to recover from this pandemic .
The G20 has always led the global response effort and is committed to “maintaining all efforts” in combating this pandemic, the group’s member states have taken unprecedented measures at an unusual speed to deal with the difficult challenges that this crisis has imposed on public health and the global economy.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Presidency of the Group of Twenty calls on international partners to support this financing campaign so that it can confirm its message to “for future generations” to overcome the pandemic of the emerging Corona Virus as one global community. Occasionally, KSA has previously pledged $ 500 mln to support global financing efforts.
