Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber welcomed a delegation from the Chinese city of Shenyang, led by Mayor Liu Ziqiang, in the presence of Ambassador Ali El-Hefny, President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Cairo and Shenyang across various fields, particularly trade, investment, culture, education, environment, energy, and scientific research.

Dr. Saber warmly greeted the delegation, emphasizing the deep historical bonds between Egypt and China — two nations united by their ancient civilizations. He noted that the strong ties between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Xi Jinping reflect a flourishing era of partnership. This visit, he said, marks a new step toward strengthening local cooperation between the two cities, both of which hold remarkable strategic, economic, and cultural importance.

The Governor highlighted Cairo’s existing twinning and cooperation agreements with several Chinese cities aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

During the meeting, Dr. Saber outlined Cairo’s efforts in sustainable development and infrastructure modernization, reaffirming its status as a hub of culture, tourism, and economic vitality. Both sides explored opportunities for investment and technological cooperation, as well as mechanisms to deepen cultural and educational exchange between Cairo and Shenyang.

The two parties also underscored the importance of activating the Friendship Agreement signed in 2016, which seeks to further strengthen the bonds between the peoples of the two cities.
