European Union & Egypt celebrate “energy day” as COP27 flashes

Under the title of the “Euro-Egyptian Energy Day”, the European Union Embassy and Egypt celebrated on Friday 16 September 2022 at the Fish Garden in Zamalek in the presence of ministers of petroleum, industry, foreign affairs, sports, state cooperation, politicians, diplomats and media people..

In his speech, Mr ambassador Christian Berger said: “For the second year in a row, the European Union and Egypt are celebrating the European Energy Day in Egypt, and today a number of young people and members of the European Union started riding bicycles to raise awareness of the importance of energy and renewable energy, adding that the event came and we are 50 days away from holding the conference.”

This happened during the celebration of the European Union Energy Day in Egypt, where the delegation of the European Union and a number of ministries opened a cycling marathon in Zamalek in order to conserve energy and raise awareness of the importance of energy and reduce the use of energy and renewable energy.

The ambassador of the European Union said that the issue of climate should not be postponed, but the “green transition” initiatives should be activated, and awareness should be created for the sake of the climate.

In turn, Alaa Ezz, the head of the Association of European Egyptian Businessmen, said that the association works hand in hand with the European Union, and discussions have started since 20 years to educate the youth about the importance of energy.

Alaa Hajar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, said that the Ministry has a close partnership with the bilateral energy union and to face the challenges and obstacles facing the region, the partnership in the field of energy is at the top of the priorities of the partnership between Egypt and the European Union.

The celebration was presented by the well-known media reporter, Mr Ibrahim Alkurdany.
