In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on May 10, the Arab Republic of Egypt welcomed the vote of the majority of members of the United Nations General Assembly in favor of the resolution presented by the Arab Group to support the eligibility of the State of Palestine for full membership in the international organization.
Egypt considered the issuance of this historic decision to be an embodiment of a historical reality and truth on the ground, and a recognition of the rights of a people who have suffered for more than seven decades of foreign occupation, noting the importance of the timing of the issuance of this decision at a delicate stage that the Palestinian issue is going through in light of unprecedented Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people. And his rights.
On this occasion, the Arab Republic of Egypt called on all countries that have not yet taken the decision to recognize the Palestinian state, to move forward towards taking this important and pivotal step to support the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Arab Republic of Egypt called on the Security Council and influential international parties to deal with the required responsibility with the dangerous situation in the Gaza Strip, especially the Palestinian city of Rafah, which is exposed to severe humanitarian risks as a result of Israeli control of the crossings and the prevention of the flow of humanitarian aid.
Egypt renewed its demand for the importance of intensifying international efforts in order to achieve the vision of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
