The Public Authority for Roads announced the readiness of all road networks to receive the guests of Rahman (the Merciful), after implementing a package of safety and maintenance works that ensure the readiness of the road network leading to the holy sites. It has also maintained more than 7,000 km using the latest technologies related to maintenance, survey and evaluation.
The transportation system worked to implement many works that ensure the safety of the guests of Rahman, including the removal of more than 40,000 cubic meters of sand dunes on the right of way, and the repair of expansion joints with a total of 124,000 linear meters. It also worked on implementing concrete and metal barriers with a length of 9,000 km. In addition to implementing ground paints about 600 km on the roads leading to the holy sites, it also installed more than 2,400 warning and warning signs, in addition to paving 5,000 km of dirt roads.
And with the aim of providing the best services to the pilgrims; The system provided more than 300 observers on the roads, and many field teams and emergency teams on the road network 24 hours a day.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a huge road network, through which it is the first in the world at the level of road network connectivity according to the World Bank, as this network contributes to strengthening the interdependence of the holy sites, serving the guests of Rahman and facilitating their movement to and from the sites.
