Iran’s Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Mojtaba Ferdowsi, warned that any attempt by what he described as the “Zionist-American alliance” to assassinate Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Dr. Mojtaba Khamenei, could trigger an unprecedented global geopolitical and energy crisis.
He stated that the consequences would not be limited to potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz or oil shipments, but could lead to historic spikes in global fuel prices, as a wider regional escalation could destabilize the entire international energy system.
Ferdowsi also argued that the international community’s silence has effectively encouraged escalation by figures such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former U.S. President Donald Trump.
He added that the world had missed a historic opportunity when it failed to fully invest in and preserve the 2015 nuclear agreement (JCPOA), which could have served as a foundation for stability and de-escalation in the region.
