Muscat – private – The logistics sector is one of the most important economic sectors on which the Omani national economy relies on its path towards the desired economic diversification, with the country’s strategic location that constitutes a distinctive commercial link in the region and the world at large. It has strengthened its position with a group of promising roads, ports and airports, which will play a major role In facilitating trade exchange, as the logistics sector – with its great potential – is the main link between all economic sectors, including industry, trade movement, and local and global supply chains. Logistics is one of the pillars of economic growth and diversification, as ambitious plans in this promising sector seek to strengthen the supply chains associated with it. As one of the first promising sectors with high added value.

In order to enhance the national vision in the logistics sector, the Sultanate of Oman is working to establish a network of railway trains, which is characterized by its ability to transport huge quantities of goods and commodities and a large number of passengers and travelers over long distances. It is convenient and reaches the various stations with accuracy and regularity, and shortens administrative and customs procedures. In addition to the above, it is distinguished by being a low-cost means of transport compared to other means of transport. The establishment of advanced railway projects will also play a role in stimulating the shipment of national industrial products and commodities, which encourages Domestic and foreign trade, revitalizing tourism within the Sultanate, and linking it with its land neighbours.

From this standpoint, the Sultanate of Oman seeks to build an integrated transportation system that links the Sultanate’s vital ports with the Arab Gulf markets, providing faster transportation of people and goods, and enhancing trade exchange and logistical services through the Omani ports, with the pivotal commercial role they represent, and for the railways to be a pivotal and reliable link. The wheels of growth, prosperity and economic diversification in the Sultanate accelerate, and the Omani-Emirati railway network project is one of the promising projects that will support this trend.

There is no doubt that any addition that enhances the role of the logistics sector on land and sea will enable this role to be maximized, and contribute to meeting the requirements of fast and efficient transportation of passengers and goods, and achieving sustainable development.
