During the first quarter of the current year 2023 AD, the Kingdom if Saudi Arabia (kSA) achieved growth in the field of e-commerce at an annual rate of more than 32%, and the total number of exported records reached 4093 exported commercial records, compared to the first quarter of last year 2022 AD, which amounted to a total of 3499 exported records.
According to the business sector bulletin issued by the Ministry of Commerce during the first quarter of this year 2023 AD, the Riyadh region issued the most electronic records with 13,195 records, followed by Makkah Al-Mukarramah with 8,605 records, the Eastern Province with 5,294 records, Medina with 1,649 records, and Al-Qassim with 1,107 exported electronic records.
Strengthening the e-commerce business system is one of the goals of the National Transformation Program that supports the realization of Saudi Vision 2030, due to the importance of e-commerce and its role in strengthening the national economy, especially since the Kingdom is one of the top 10 developing countries in the field of e-commerce, with a rate of 17% during the first quarter of 2023. .
The e-commerce system seeks to support entrepreneurs wishing to switch from regular trade to e-commerce. Through the entities that offer their services in terms of empowerment, electronic payment, digital marketing, technical solutions, electronic markets, logistical solutions, and platforms for developing electronic stores, and the most important of these entities is the “E-commerce Council of the Ministry of Commerce”, which aims to enhance the reliability of electronic commerce and increase its contributions to the national economy, Stimulating and developing e-commerce activities in the Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that home delivery is one of the main drivers of the rapid growth and adoption of the use of e-commerce, in order to save time, offers and suitable prices on the Internet and the variety of products that can be chosen from.
