His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated yesterday in the 28th regular meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States, held in the Republic of Guatemala.

During his speech at the meeting, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation with the countries of the Caribbean region, pointing to the important role of the Association of Caribbean States in promoting regional cooperation and advancing collective action on issues of common concern, such as trade, climate change, and development. sustainable, and others.

His Highness indicated that the Kingdom shares with the Caribbean countries the belief in the importance of ensuring peace, security and stability in order to refocus efforts towards national development and mutual prosperity, indicating that the Kingdom is committed to working with international partners to achieve the goals of sustainable development by 2030.

His Highness said: “The Kingdom is a pioneer in providing humanitarian and development aid all over the world, and it is among the top 10 donors to low- and middle-income countries, and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is at the forefront of disaster response and relief efforts, as it provided more than $1.3 billion in aid.” to the Caribbean countries.

He added, “The Saudi Fund for Development greatly supports core projects and acts as an integral part of our global partnerships that have begun to expand. In the Caribbean region, the Fund is currently working on projects amounting to $242.6 million, and has recently approved 11 loans worth more than $510 million.” dollars, and the fund is evaluating an additional $260 million pipeline participation in several sectors including health, infrastructure, renewable energy, and water.”

His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting common priorities of concern within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change along with other developing countries from the Caribbean region, referring to what the Kingdom is doing by engaging global partners in advancing various initiatives that enable greater climate action, in The context of different national conditions and efforts towards sustainable development.
