With 728 international awards, Saudi talents record national achievements in international competitions

  A report issued by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba” revealed that 728 international awards have been achieved for the nation since 2010 until now, as talented Saudis have moved for many years from participating in international Olympiads to competing and achieving historical numbers, awards and achievements.

  The report confirmed that the “Mawhiba” Foundation has discovered 186,000 talented men and women from various regions of the Kingdom during the past years, and is preparing to open the doors of registration during the month of October 2023 to register new talented people who will be tested and sponsored, indicating that the talented people have achieved advanced achievements at the international level in international scientific competitions, where The Kingdom’s students won 728 medals and prizes in international scientific competitions and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) competition. Among them: 595 awards at the International Olympics from 2010 until now, of which 65 medals and certificates of appreciation were achieved during the current year.

  The Kingdom also raised the balance of its prizes at ISEF 2023 to 133 prizes, including 92 grand prizes and 41 special prizes, as its participation in the exhibition began in 2007 AD. In addition, Mawhibah students developed more than 16,000 ideas, obtained 15 patents, and more were accepted. From 1,000 male and female students in the best 50 prestigious international universities, in specific specializations that are compatible with the needs of national development plans.

  Regarding the Kingdom’s participation during the year 2023, the report indicated that the Saudi team participating in the International Olympiads has achieved 4 international awards in the International Chemistry Olympiad for the year 2023, and has achieved 4 international awards in the International Biology Olympiad 2023, while it has achieved 3 international awards in the International Physics Olympiad competitions. 2023, and the team won 6 awards in the 2023 International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) competitions, and 3 global awards in the 2023 International Informatics Olympiad.

  It is noteworthy that the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba” aims to discover and nurture gifted and creative people in scientific fields of priority development, and is distinguished in caring for gifted and creative people in scientific and technical fields, as it developed a plan that included developing a scientific methodology to discover and nurture gifted people, as more than 25,000 gifted girls/girls annually out of tens of thousands who undergo each year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the national program to detect gifted people in more than 100 cities and villages in the Kingdom. “Mawhiba” offers more than 20 different initiatives to care for them, from which thousands of gifted people benefit annually. This represents an integrated national database containing detailed information about the best minds in the country, male and female, from all over the Kingdom, where they are followed up even after they graduate from universities.
