Al-Amro, elected as a vice-chairman of ACHRC in Geneva

As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the effective role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of human rights on the international scene, Dr. Noura bint Mazyad Al-Amro was elected today as Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council (ACHRC), where she will represent the Asia Group in the office of the Advisory Committee of this UN body in Geneva.

This election highlights the international community’s recognition of the effective contributions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Human Rights Council, its efforts to strengthen international human rights law, and its active role in priority human rights issues on the international scene. This election also highlights the credibility enjoyed by Saudi experts on the scene. International.

Dr. Noura Al-Amro explained that her election as Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council reflects the successes achieved by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – where Human rights were placed at the top of policy priorities in the Kingdom, which made it easier for Saudi citizens to successfully engage in the international human rights field and helped elect them to advanced positions in the United Nations.

Dr. Al-Amro was elected in 2021 as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council, by a majority of votes, for a period of three years, during the forty-eighth session of this UN body. She holds a membership in the Council of the Saudi Human Rights Commission, and represents the Kingdom in the joint dialogue team between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the European Union. In the field of human rights, she holds a doctorate in public health from Harvard University.

The Advisory Committee is one of the mechanisms of the United Nations Human Rights Council, and it is composed of (18) experts working in their personal capacity, and it works at a great level of importance based on the directives provided by the Human Rights Council.
