The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, went to the Greek capital Athens on today for a working visit, which will see important meetings with senior Greek officials as well as participation in the work of Greece.
An official source of the Secretariat of the League of Arab States said that it is scheduled Aboul Gheit will meet the Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos where he will discuss with him the development of the Arab-Greek relations in various fields, given the location of Greece in the framework of the European Union and the active role regionally, taking into account the special relations both sides in the political spheres.
The economic, cultural and traditional stances of Greece in support of Arab issues, especially the Palestinian issue, constitute a strong basis on which to build relations between the two parties during the next stage.
The source also pointed out that the visit of Aboul Gheit will include a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as the session extended talks with Nicholas Deindeas Foreign Minister of Greece, it is expected that these sessions address ways of exchanging views on regional and international important issues, such as combating terrorism and crises in the regionof the Middle East, particularly in Syria, Libya and the Palestinian cause and how to coordinate efforts to contain this crisis.
This will ensure security and stability in these countries and the Middle East region in general, the meetings will discuss ways to develop the Arab-Greek relations.
