Egypt and Germany boost the academic research and skilled workers

The Minister of State for Science, Culture and Tourism of the German Federal State of Saxony visits Egypt

The State Secretary for Science, Culture and Tourism of Saxony, Dr. Andreas Handschuh, visited Egypt from 14 to 17 April. His talks focused on expanding the scope of cooperation with Egypt in the areas of academic and research cooperation and the movement of skilled workers to Germany.

The minister’s delegation exchanged views on these topics with Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to intensify cooperation between them in the fields of computer science, natural sciences, medicine and engineering.

During the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, Minister Ayman Ashour stressed the importance of cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the field of higher education and scientific research, which leads to supporting sustainable development in both countries.

Dr. Andreas Handschuh stressed his country’s desire to cooperate with the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and to support cooperation relations with Egypt in various fields, especially in the fields of higher education, science and technology. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the long-standing relations between the two sides.

It is worth noting that, in addition to exchanging views in the Ministry of Higher Education, State Minister Handschuh met with representatives of various German institutions, including the management of the office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). The delegation also exchanged views with representatives of various universities, including the German University in Cairo.

Dr. Handschau was accompanied by State Minister Dr. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, Rector of the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology and President of the Rectors’ Conference of Saxony, and Dr. Alexander Krach, Rector of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and Vice-President of the Rectors’ Conference of Saxony.
