The Ministry of Sports announced that the Kingdom will host the World Rally Championship for the first time in its history, under the name “Saudi Rally”, for a period of (10) years, starting next year 2025 AD, organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, the Saudi Motor Sports Company, and under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports. , in cooperation with the World Rally Championship (WRC).
The signing ceremony of the pioneering sports agreement took place on the Italian island of Sardinia, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Automobile Federation, Bin Abdullah bin Faisal, President of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, President of the Saudi Motor Sports Company, and Director General of the World Rally Championship, Jonah Sell.
For his part, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, said: “We are pleased that the World Rally Championship has joined the number of global sporting events for which the Kingdom has become a preferred and ideal destination, with generous and generous support from our wise leadership – may God protect it.” Thanks to God Almighty, and then with its interest and empowerment of the sports sector, the Kingdom continued to embrace the largest sporting forums in various games and events without exception, including the World Rally Championship, which is one of the largest tournaments in the world of motor sports.
For his part, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdullah bin Faisal, President of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, President of the Saudi Motor Sports Company, expressed his happiness at the Kingdom hosting the World Rally Championship for the first time, and said: “The arrival of another racing series of global stature.” To the Kingdom, it embodies that our country has become a preferred home for sports and athletes in various games, including motor sports, as this major event joined a number of other events, such as Formula 1 races, Formula E, Extreme E racing, and the Dakar Rally, which is another success recorded on the list. It is noteworthy that the Kingdom’s victory in this hosting is the first of its kind in the Middle East since 2011 AD, when the tournament was held in Jordan, as this hosting is a new confirmation of the high and great capabilities possessed by the Kingdom, and an embodiment of the exceptional journey of development that the sports sector is experiencing, in line with Efforts aimed at achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
