Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a call yesterday evening, December 10, 2024, from Mr. Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State.
During the call, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the Syrian arena, where Minister Abdel-Ati affirmed Egypt’s firm and supportive position towards the Syrian state, its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
The two ministers agreed on the importance of adopting a comprehensive political process in Syria based on not excluding any Syrian national parties and components, and in a way that paves the way for the return of stability to Syria.
Minister Abdel-Ati also affirmed Egypt’s position rejecting Israel’s seizure of the buffer zone with Syria and the leadership sites adjacent to it, stressing that these movements constitute an occupation of Syrian lands and a blatant violation of its sovereignty, and represent a breach of international law, stressing the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop this aggression against the Syrian state.
