Xinhua — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the Munich Security Conference on Friday that China maintains a stable and consistent policy toward the United States and does not easily flip or change it, demonstrating its strategic resolve and international credibility as a major country.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks when addressing a session on “China in the World” and answering questions from the event’s host.
Wang noted that China and the United States have different social systems, which are choices made by their people, so it is unrealistic to try to change or even overthrow the other’s system.
Global challenges need to be addressed jointly by China and the United States, and it is an international responsibility that both sides should shoulder, Wang said.
Wang pointed out that China is willing to build stable, healthy and sustainable bilateral relations with the United States on the basis of the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and find the right path for the two major countries to achieve harmony on this planet, expressing the hope that the United States will move in the same direction as China. Wang said that if the United States insists on suppressing and containing China, the Chinese side will stand up to it to the end, resolutely oppose any unilateral bullying actions by the United States, and resolutely defend its national sovereignty, dignity and legitimate right to development.
