Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang, reiterated China’s regret over the collapse of the ceasefire, which did not come easily in the Gaza Strip. He expressed Beijing’s deep concern and condemnation of the Israeli occupation army’s resumption of the war on Gaza.
At a press conference held this evening on the occasion of the 2025 Biennial Sessions, he added that the language of force is not the solution to the Palestinian issue.
Ambassador Liqiang emphasized that China appreciates Egypt’s positive role in resolving the Gaza issue and supports the Gaza reconstruction plan jointly launched by Egypt and Arab countries.
China emphasizes the importance of reconstruction as soon as possible, based on the principle of “Palestine being governed by Palestinians,” so that the Palestinian people can rebuild their homes on their own land.
“We urge the Israeli side to abandon its insistence on resorting to force, immediately cease its military operations in Gaza, and stop the collective punishment imposed on civilians in Gaza. We call on the relevant parties to implement the ceasefire agreement comprehensively and consistently,” Liao added.
The Chinese ambassador called on the guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement to take a fair and responsible stance to promote the consistent implementation of the three-phase agreement and ensure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. We strongly oppose the militarization and politicization of humanitarian aid, and urge Israel to fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under international humanitarian law and immediately restore humanitarian access to Gaza.
Ambassador Liqiang emphasized that the “two-state solution” is the only viable way to resolve the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are an integral part of the State of Palestine.
He added: “As a strategic partner of the Middle East countries and a loyal friend of our Arab brothers, China will continue to stand firmly with the peoples of the Middle East in their pursuit of justice, peace, and development. It will support the Middle East countries in taking control of their own futures and destiny and exploring development paths of their own free will, thus achieving the peace and renaissance they dream of at an early date.”
