At the kind invitation of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, journalist Amr Yehia, Managing Editor of Al-Ahram, visited the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, to participate as Egypt’s representative in the 5th International Leadership and Stability Workshop. The workshop was organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis at the National Defense University of Pakistan. The workshop brought together 65 foreign participants, including leaders, senior decision-makers, diplomats, ambassadors, government advisors, academics, senior executives, and representatives of international media outlets, representing 46 countries from various regions around the world.
Mr. Amr Yahya stated that the discussions addressed developments on the international and regional scene and provided a platform for sharing Pakistan’s perspective on various global issues and promoting global dialogue. The sessions featured extensive discussions and interactions on topics such as leadership and international security policy, the global and regional geopolitical environment, and its impact on social and economic development.
The Managing Editor of Al-Ahram added that he participated as a speaker in the panel discussion on the topic: “How do modern media, including social media, influence public perceptions of conflict? What responsibility do media platforms and governments bear in promoting stability?”
Professor Amr Yahya also participated in highlighting Egypt’s position on several issues related to its foreign policy, including its firm stance on the Palestinian cause. He also highlighted the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan, which represent a model of bilateral cooperation in various fields, including politics, diplomacy, and the economy, as well as coordination within international organizations, the military, and counterterrorism.
Mr. Yahya also expressed his honor during the visit by meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr Palace and discussing bilateral relations between the two countries. He also visited the headquarters of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held a dialogue with Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and held discussions with Pakistani Foreign Undersecretaries Hamid Asghar Khan and Amna Baloch, and met with Pakistani Minister of State for Finance, Revenue, and Energy Ali Pervez Malik.

Mr. Amr Yahya said that during his visit, he was pleased to have a distinguished meeting with the distinguished Egyptian ambassador and diplomat, Dr. Ihab Abdel Hamid (Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan), at the Egyptian Embassy (Beit Al Masryeen) in Islamabad. He expressed his warm welcome, reflecting his appreciation for Al-Ahram’s pioneering role internationally.
His visit program included the Pakistan Military Academy in Abbottabad, the National Military Space Science and Technology City, Faisal Mosque, and the Lok Virsa Museum, which showcases Pakistan’s history, culture, fashion, and regions throughout the ages. He also visited the Pakistan National Council for the Arts, which showcases artistic and musical performances that reflect Pakistan’s rich folk arts and culture.
