On the 12th of this month, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Nurlan Yermakbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as part of his participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.
Gamal Rushdi, the Secretary-General’s Spokesperson, stated that Aboul Gheit stressed during the meeting the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two organizations and considering raising the level of their relations. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the international arena, particularly economic developments in light of the US tariff decisions, as well as the situation in the region.
The Spokesperson indicated that Mr. Yermakbayev, in turn, emphasized the importance of the SCO in enhancing cooperation with the Arab League, especially in light of the many common challenges that must be addressed, as well as the opportunities available for joint action. He affirmed the organization’s readiness to organize and develop this cooperation. The Secretary-General invited Aboul Gheit to visit the organization soon.
