The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Cairo hosted a grand celebration marking the country’s 107th National Day, attended by senior officials, diplomats, parliamentarians, and prominent public figures, reflecting the depth of Azerbaijani-Egyptian relations and their rapid evolution across various fields.

“Just as the eternal fire of Baku blazes in the heart of the Caucasus, the ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan glow brightly in their 107th year—driven by wise leadership and a partnership rooted deep in history and blossoming toward a promising future.”

“During the 107th National Day celebration, Egypt-Azerbaijan relations appeared like a silken thread woven into a rich Caucasian carpet—its colors meeting between the Nile and the Caucasus slopes—while Baku’s eternal flame danced to Eastern oud melodies, heralding a future shaped by wisdom and shared values.”

In his speech, Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov highlighted that the 107th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence is a moment of national pride and reflection, and an opportunity to honor the country’s domestic achievements and growing international partnerships, most notably with Egypt, which he described as deep-rooted and historic.

He noted that recent years have witnessed a significant boost in bilateral cooperation, illustrated by high-level official visits, including the visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Baku, the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Cairo, and a delegation from the Egyptian Senate to Azerbaijan.

Polukhov said: “We are celebrating our national day here in the land of the Nile, among friends we deeply value. Cairo will host important political consultations this year between our Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and will also be the venue for the sixth session of the Joint Governmental Committee—highlighting both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation.”

He emphasized that both Egypt and Azerbaijan play influential regional and international roles, adding: “This cherished national celebration reflects the sincerity and openness that define our relations—not only bilaterally, but also multilaterally across international platforms.”

The ambassador also underscored that Azerbaijan hosted COP29 last year, and is preparing to host the 13th World Urban Forum in 2026, following Egypt’s hosting of the 12th edition—a testament to the deepening coordination between the two nations on global issues.

He added: “Our countries have faced various regional and political challenges throughout history, but thanks to the wisdom of our leaders, we have succeeded in building strong and prosperous nations—and today, we celebrate 107 years of independence in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.”

For his part, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, representing Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, expressed his honor to attend Azerbaijan’s National Day celebrations, praising the strong bonds between the two countries, despite geographical distance.

He noted that President El-Sisi’s historic visit to Azerbaijan and President Aliyev’s visit to Egypt in June 2024 have given a major strategic boost to bilateral ties, especially in areas like digital economy and smart infrastructure.

He also highlighted a shared vision for digital cooperation, focusing on experience exchange and joint ventures in technology, paving the way for a mutually beneficial digital future.
