With the presence of H.E. Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and H.E. Jin Xin, Assistant Minister of the same department, H.E. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, delivered a comprehensive address at the opening of the Eleventh Conference on Dialogue Between Arab and Chinese Civilizations, expressing deep appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its warm hospitality and excellent organization.

A Dialogue Renewed… A Partnership Deepened

Aboul Gheit emphasized that the conference has evolved far beyond a periodic cultural forum, becoming a pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership linking the Arab world and China.
He underscored the deep historical foundations of this relationship, enriched through centuries of positive interaction and civilizational exchange along the Silk Road, which served as a conduit not only for goods but also for ideas, philosophies, sciences, and arts.

A Shared Vision for a New Era

The Secretary-General highlighted that the theme of this year’s conference—“Building a China–Arab Community with a Shared Future for the New Era”—is not an abstract ideal but a strategic vision rooted in partnership, dialogue, and mutual understanding, especially in a world marked by turbulence and rapid transformations.

Amid global challenges—from climate change and security threats to regional crises and technological disruptions—civilizational dialogue, he said, becomes indispensable for shaping sustainable, innovative solutions.

Confronting Hate Speech… and Welcoming China’s Global Initiatives

Aboul Gheit warned against the rise of hate speech propelled by social media platforms, which amplify fear and polarization. He reaffirmed the Arab conviction that civilizations complement rather than compete, and that no civilization holds moral or cultural superiority over another.

He praised China’s Global Civilization Initiative, describing it as a wise, balanced contribution that aligns closely with Arab and Islamic principles of tolerance, moderation, and openness to the other.

He also welcomed President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative, announced at the Tianjin Summit, noting its relevance to the concerns of the Global South, including Arab states, in advocating fair representation and strengthening multilateralism.

Investing in Culture… Empowering the Next Generation

The Secretary-General stressed that joint Arab–Chinese investment in culture and heritage protection is essential for dismantling stereotypes and building mutual understanding.
He underscored the centrality of youth empowerment, applauding initiatives such as the Youth Leaders Exchange Camp, which prepares a new generation capable of carrying the responsibility of building a shared future.

Looking Ahead to the Second Arab–Chinese Summit

In his conclusion, Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the League of Arab States’ unwavering commitment to deepening dialogue between the two ancient civilizations.
He expressed profound optimism ahead of the Second Arab–Chinese Summit in 2026, expected to mark a pivotal milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership.

He closed by extending sincere gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and all participants, calling for collective action “for the sake of future generations and for a deeper understanding among peoples everywhere.”
