Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) 2025 opened today under the patronage of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, marking the launch of one of the region’s most prominent defense industry gatherings.
In this year’s edition, 80 Turkish companies are taking part—the highest number from any single country, without exception. This remarkable presence positions Turkish firms as the number-one international participant at EDEX 2025, underscoring both the depth of Turkey’s industrial capabilities and its growing strategic interest in the Egyptian and regional defense markets.
The strong Turkish showing also highlights the prestige and expanding international relevance of EDEX, which increasingly serves as a gateway for global defense manufacturers seeking access to the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
During a visit to the exhibition today, I toured several Turkish pavilions and held conversations with company representatives. A key stop was the stand of ASELSAN, one of Turkey’s most established and advanced defense-electronics institutions.
There, I conducted an in-depth discussion with General Manager Mr. Ahmet Akyol and his accompanying delegation. Mr. Akyol’s personal participation in the expo reflects ASELSAN’s strong commitment to EDEX and to the Egyptian market.
ASELSAN: Half a Century of Strategic Innovation
For nearly fifty years, ASELSAN has stood as a global leader in defense electronics, developing technologies that stretch from the seabed to outer space.
The company continues to deliver high-performance solutions and pioneering advancements across:
- Air defense, radar, and electronic warfare
- Electro-optics, avionics, and precision guidance systems
- Land platforms, weapon systems, and underwater technologies
- Communication, satellite, and space technologies
- Command-and-control systems
In the civilian sphere, ASELSAN also drives innovation in transportation, security, energy, and healthcare technologies, further cementing its role as a multifaceted technological powerhouse.
EDEX 2025 thus stands not only as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge defense capabilities, but also as a testament to the growing strategic synergy between Egypt and Turkey, and to the fair’s evolving influence on the global defense landscape.
