ON 18 January 2026, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Egypt, Georgy Borisinko, took part in the celebration marking the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa and Asia.

In his address, the Russian ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening the organization’s role and preserving its standing as a trusted consultative platform—especially at a time of escalating global political and economic turbulence, the persistence of neo-colonial practices by several Western states, and the growing intensity of international polarization.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Borisinko held a meeting with the organization’s president, Ambassador Mohamed Orabi; its Secretary-General, Dr. Mohamed Ehsan; and Abdel Hakim Abdel Nasser, son of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
The discussions highlighted Russia’s historical contribution to the struggles for liberation and independence across Asia and Africa, while underscoring the need to intensify cooperation—particularly through joint events and initiatives.

The ambassador also signed the organization’s guest book, expressing his wishes for its continued prosperity and success.
