Presidents Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil have expressed strong solidarity with former Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, following the upholding of her six-year house arrest sentence in the high-profile Vialidad corruption case earlier this week.

Maduro took to social media to highlight Argentina’s revolutionary heritage, invoking figures such as Juan Domingo Perón, Néstor Kirchner, and football legend Diego Maradona as icons of the nation’s enduring spirit. He also described Eva Perón as a symbol of resistance and popular triumph, drawing a parallel between her and CFK.

According to Maduro, the Argentine people—rooted in a legacy of revolution—will persist in their struggle. His remarks came as thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across Argentina on Wednesday in support of the embattled former president.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed Wednesday by Brazilian Workers’ Party (PT) Congressman Paulo Pimenta, speaking from Buenos Aires, that President Lula plans to visit Fernández de Kirchner next month during the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) Summit.

“President Lula will travel to Argentina in the first week of July to visit his friend Cristina and express his personal affection and solidarity,” Pimenta stated. He also took part in the street rallies backing CFK, asserting that her conviction was both unjust and politically motivated.
