The Embassy of India in Cairo organized a special outreach event on 14 January 2025 in Cairo, to highlight the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India, from February 5–9, 2025. The event brought together prominent Egyptian industry leaders, innovators, and professionals from the media and entertainment (M&E) sector. It provided valuable insights into WAVES, showcasing it as a premier platform for exploring opportunities, discovering innovative solutions, understanding emerging trends and technologies in content creation, and engaging with global M&E leaders.
Charge d’Affaires Ms. C. Sushma addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of WAVES in fostering collaboration and innovation within the media and entertainment sector. She highlighted the opportunities offered by WAVES 2025 and encouraged Egyptian stakeholders and industry leaders to participate and leverage this platform. Additionally, she stressed the importance of cultural cooperation between India and Egypt, noting the mutual appreciation for each other’s cultures. She remarked on the strong cultural connections, such as the inclusion of Egyptian history in Indian school curricula and the admiration for Indian culture in Egypt.
The event included a detailed presentation on WAVES, outlining its key features. The summit will feature eight key components, including Global Media Dialogue, Thought Leaders Track, Exhibition, Wave Bazaar, WaveXelerator, Bharat Pavilion and Create in India Challenge, under 4 broad pillars on 1. Broadcasting and infotainment (News Media, TV, Radio, Carriage Services, Music & Advertisin), 2. AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, E-Sports, AR, VR, XR & Metaverse), 3. Digital Media (Social Media, OTT Platforms, online Creators, Generative AI, Emerging Technologies) and 4. Films (Films, Documentaries, Short Film, Videos, Film Technologies, Production, Post Production, Distributors & Exhibitors).
Wave Bazaar is an industry-led marketplace for identifying business partners for tie-ups and offer platform for convergence of Buyers and sellers from different countries. Global Media Dialogue provides opportunities to interact with key policy makers dealing with the M&E sector across the globe. WAVES promises to be a trans-formative event for the global M&E industry, offering a unique opportunity to network, collaborate, and address challenges.
