June 26th marked an inspiring milestone for Uzbekistan’s rising generation, as hundreds of bright young minds gathered in the capital for the first official seminar of the newly formed Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

In line with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s vision to empower youth and foster civic engagement, over 500 young individuals were selected to join the Youth Parliament. This initiative aims to cultivate leadership, political awareness, and social responsibility among Uzbekistan’s youth.

The inaugural seminar, held on June 26th, served as an orientation and interactive platform where members were introduced to their roles and the Parliament’s broader mission. Eight distinguished speakers, including four senators, led the day’s sessions, offering knowledge, mentorship, and inspiration.

Among the highlights was a masterclass by Shirin Abidova, Director of the Association of Volunteers in Uzbekistan. Her session emphasized the power of volunteerism, incorporating engaging debates and interactive games to illustrate the societal impact of active citizenship.

Dr. Kamola Aliyeva, a legal scholar with a PhD in Law, delivered a compelling speech on the rights of young women and adolescents, with a strong focus on cybersecurity and digital awareness—topics vital to modern youth navigating both social and political spaces.

The participating senators elaborated on the Youth Parliament’s structure and purpose, emphasizing the importance of youth voices in legislative collaboration. They clarified that the new members are entitled to actively participate in seminars, electoral processes, and policy discussions with deputies and senators—empowering them to contribute through opinions, suggestions, and even dissent.

Beyond the formal agenda, the event offered a vibrant cultural and social experience. Participants enjoyed a traditional Uzbek lunch, creating an atmosphere of community and national pride. More importantly, the seminar fostered meaningful connections among young leaders, nurturing a sense of unity, purpose, and mutual growth.

With such initiatives, Uzbekistan continues to invest in a future shaped by educated, engaged, and empowered youth—ready to contribute to the country’s democratic and developmental path.
