On this Youm-e-Istehsal, the Government of Pakistan and I reaffirm the unwavering solidarity of the Pakistani nation with our Kashmiri sisters and brothers. We strongly condemn India’s illegal and unilateral measures since 5 August 2019, aimed at altering the demographic composition and political status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), in blatant violation of international law, established norms, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Youm-e-Istehsal stands as a stark reminder of India’s refusal to pursue peace and stability, choosing instead a path of brutality and unilateralism. The ongoing denial of basic human rights, dignity, and identity to the Kashmiri people under India’s illegal occupation is a grave threat to regional peace. India’s occupation has relied on nearly eight decades of state terrorism and oppression, yet the brave people of Kashmir have endured with extraordinary resilience and dignity. Today, Pakistanis and peace-loving people worldwide salute their unwavering spirit and sacrifice.

India’s continued efforts to silence the legitimate leadership of Kashmiris are part of a broader hegemonic and extremist agenda driving its illegal occupation. The unjust imprisonment of Kashmiri leaders and activists, including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Masarrat Alam Bhatt, will never weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people. Their steadfast defiance in the face of relentless intimidation is a testament to their indomitable courage.

India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir remains the central conflict destabilizing South Asia and fueling India’s aggressive behavior. India’s unprovoked attack against Pakistan in May 2025 — and its swift, decisive military defeat — underscore the urgent need for the international community to prioritize a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute. A peaceful settlement, reflecting the will and aspirations of the Kashmiri people in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, remains the only viable path to lasting peace.

On this day, I reiterate that pursuing a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. I call upon the international community to urge India to cease its human rights abuses in IIOJK, reverse the illegal and unilateral measures of 5 August 2019, repeal draconian laws, and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan stands firm in its unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people until they realize their inalienable right to self-determination.
