The Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received today, August 14, Canadian International Development Minister Harjit Sagan, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations as well as issues of common concern, especially food security and climate change.

 Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Shoukry stressed during the meeting the remarkable development witnessed by the bilateral relations between the two countries over the past years, which is reflected in the mutual keenness to consult on many regional and international issues of common interest. He pointed out that the two ministers discussed the importance of advancing cooperation relations between the two countries in various development fields, especially in the sectors of health, rural development, women empowerment and capacity building within the framework of sustainable development goals, expressing Egypt’s aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two countries by upgrading the size of existing projects and increasing Canadian investments. in Egypt.

The Spokesman added that Minister Shoukry reviewed the most important developments of the arrangements related to Egypt’s hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), emphasizing the Egyptian vision for its presidency of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties, including the importance of shifting from promises to the stage of actual implementation on the ground. Building on the momentum achieved at last year’s Glasgow conference to mobilize support for global climate action, and expressing a desire to enhance cooperation in the areas of energy and the environment.
