She\u2019s a fantastic person, very importantly, but she also is somebody that gets it,\u201d Trump said as the pair sat beside one another.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"desktop-nativo mobile-yieldmo inline-ad \" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-inline-ad-count=\"2\">\n<div id=\"fFCZRM1QXVf36r\" class=\"wrapper clearfix full pb-feature pb-layout-item pb-f-ads-nativo\" data-pb-name=\"Nativo Ad\" data-pb-curated=\"curated\">\n<div class=\"hidden-mobile\">\n<div id=\"4028\" class=\"desktop-nativo-ad trb_ar_nt\" data-nativo-id-desktop=\"1089988\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>\u201cShe knows everybody. On a first name basis, and they like her. Except for maybe a couple, which is normal,\u201d he said. \u201cThey can&#8217;t all like you, but they do. They really like her, and I think maybe more importantly, they respect her.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Trump said he has not yet picked a replacement, but said prospective candidates are scrambling to fill Haley\u2019s shoes.\u201dShe\u2019s made it a glamorous position. She\u2019s made it a more important, more importantly, a more important position,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Axios first reported the President had accepted Haley\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley thanked Trump and the entire First Family, name-dropping the President\u2019s son-in-law and aide Jared Kushner and First Daughter Ivanka, before calling her time as ambassador \u201can honor of a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>She called Kushner a \u201chidden genius\u201d for his work on NAFTA and the Middle East before labeling Ivanka Trump a \u201cgreat friend\u201d and praising the couple for doing a lot of work \u201cbehind the scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Trump later fueled speculation that he was considering nominating his eldest daughter to the post.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>The President said his daughter would be \u201cdynamite,\u201d but acknowledged the bad optics of such a move.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>\u201cBut then I would be accused of nepotism, could you believe it,\u201d he told reporters as he left the White house for a political rally in Iowa. \u201cThen I would be accused of nepotism, although I\u2019m not sure there\u2019s anyone more competent in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Trump also said he\u2019s considering Dina Powell, his former deputy national security adviser, for the position.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley saved her biggest praise for the President himself, applauding his role as world leader.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>\u201cNow the United States is respected,\u201d she said. \u201cCountries may not like what we do, but they respect what we do. They know that if we say we&#8217;re going to do something, we follow it through.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>The Oval Office love-fest was a far cry from other less amicable exits that have plagued Trump\u2019s time in office. The President has often tweeted out senior administration shake-ups and seen a string of officials step down amid clouds of controversy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Major players such as former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and national security adviser H.R. McMaster have resigned amid widespread speculation that they clashed with Trump.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Others, like former embattled Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt and Veterans Affairs czar David Shulkin, stepped down as they faced questions about ethics violations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley, a rising star in the Republican party before joining the Trump administration, has been a staunch supporter of the President\u2019s rough-and-tumble stances on foreign policy. On her first day at the international body, she warned \u201cthose that don\u2019t have our back, we\u2019re taking names.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>The 46-year-old has also openly clashed with the President and contradicted him on more than one occasion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Before joining the Trump team, Haley said during the 2016 campaign that she was \u201cnot a fan\u201d of the reality TV star.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Trump, in turn, tweeted at the time that \u201cthe people of South Carolina are embarrassed by Nikki Haley!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley was appointed to the UN post in November 2016 and coordinated Trump&#8217;s second trip to the institution\u2019s New York headquarters last month, a trip that included his first time chairing the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Trump drew laughter from world leaders and diplomats when he boasted before the UN general assembly that his \u201chas accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>He insisted later that the delegates were laughing with him, not at him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley oversaw the U.S. withdrawal from the United Nations Human Rights Counsel, which Haley considered the organization\u2019s \u201cgreatest failure,\u201d and touted reductions in spending.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Late last year, Haley announced the U.S. was slashing the amount of funds it sends to the UN, calling it a \u201cbig step in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley secured tough Security Council sanction resolutions against North Korea \u2014 which the administration has credited with bringing Kim Jong Un to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She has also backed Trump\u2019s efforts to cut off funds for the UN organization that aid Palestinians, echoed his attacks on Iran, and pushed back against countries that voted against the moving of the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card card-pull-center card-captioned collection-item\" data-type=\"image\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<figure class=\"\">\n<div class=\"full-width img-container \"><img decoding=\"async\" also had her disagreements with the President, saying she had a \u201cpersonal conversation\u201d with Trump about his response to white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va. last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>In April, White House aides openly criticized Haley for discussing sanctions against Russia ahead of the administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley voiced her displeasure with the White House\u2019s handling of the situation after economic aide Larry Kudlow suggested that she had \u201cmomentary confusion\u201d over the issue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>\u201cWith all due respect, I don\u2019t get confused,\u201d Haley responded in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p>Haley, long considered a possible contender for higher office, shot down speculation that she is eyeing her own run for the White House as she sat beside the President.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card collection-item\" data-type=\"text\">\n<div class=\" card-content \">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI will say this. For all of you that are going to ask about 2020, no, I\u2019m not running for 2020,\u201d she said with a smile. \u201cI can promise you what I\u2019ll be doing is campaigning for this one.
