The Independent – A man who “upskirted” a woman at a London\u00a0Tube<\/a>\u00a0station has been fined \u00a32,000.<\/p>\n

Hiroshi Yuasam, 38, was spotted crouching behind the victim holding his mobile phone at\u00a0London Victoria<\/a>\u00a0station in April last year.<\/p>\n

Police subsequently found several photographs and videos of women on his device, “ranging from pictures of the face as well as pictures up the skirts,” according to court documents.<\/p>\n

Yuasa, of Ebury Street, Victoria, was fined after admitting outraging public decency at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.<\/p>\n

According to the charge details,\u00a0he was \u201cobserved crouched down behind a female passenger with his hand extended under her skirt taking a photograph with his\u00a0mobile phone\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yuasa was also told to pay \u00a3400 compensation to his victim, a \u00a3170 victim surcharge and \u00a3400 prosecution costs.<\/p>\n

Upskirting<\/a>\u00a0will become a specific criminal offence punishable by up to two years in prison when\u00a0new legislation is introduced later this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It follows a\u00a0campaign by Gina Martin<\/a>, who was targeted at a music festival in 2017.<\/p>\n

The legislation, which has existed in Scotland since 2010, received\u00a0its third reading in the House of Lords last month and is now awaiting only the formality of royal assent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
