{"id":23891,"date":"2022-02-23T16:26:50","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T14:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aldiplomasy.com\/en\/?p=23891"},"modified":"2022-02-24T06:42:58","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T04:42:58","slug":"u-gpaeu-conduct-a-visit-to-aswan-to-support-egypts-national-population-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aldiplomasy.com\/en\/?p=23891","title":{"rendered":"EU &#038; UNFPA conduct a VISIT to Aswan to support Egypt\u2019s National Population Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ashraf AboArafe<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aswan &#8211; Senior officials from the European Union Delegation to Egypt and UNFPA, accompanied by a number of Egyptian journalists, conducted a visit to Aswan to follow up on the progress of the European Union (EU) Support to Egypt\u2019s National Population Strategy project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ambassador Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt<span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">,\u00a0<\/span>and Frederika Meijer, UNFPA Representative in Egypt, visited the\u00a0<b>Al-Khazan Gharb<\/b>\u00a0clinic, where they met with service providers as well as women seeking services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later in the day, a musical performance titled \u201cPenguins,\u201d was conducted, aiming<b>\u00a0<\/b>at raising the awareness of community members on the concept of small family size and family planning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The performance is the product of workshops conducted at Population Awareness Clubs (PACs), with the help of Zad Art Team, who coached volunteers on developing theatrical scripts and songs to raise the awareness of their communities on various issues including female genital mutilation (FGM), family planning and gender-based violence (GBV).<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Population Awareness Clubs operate in different Youth Centers around the country, hosting awareness activities around population issues for young people using innovative tools, including music, interactive theatre<span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">,<\/span><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u00a0<\/span>and short films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the EU project, young people\u00a0of\u00a0reproductive age are educated on reproductive health issues through the use if edutainment with the support of an\u00a0EU grant\u00a0of 27 Million Euros.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4766455060wordsection1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU Support to Egypt\u2019s National Population Strategy project aims at increasing the use of voluntary, rights-based family planning through\u00a0the<span dir=\"RTL\">\u00a0<\/span>improved supply of family planning services and commodities, increased demand for family planning, and enhanced governance for implementation of the National Population Strategy.
