He noted that Chancellor Olaf Merz has also expressed concern over the tragedies endured daily by Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ambassador underlined Germany\u2019s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, not only through statements but also by providing financial aid and technical advice. He revealed that Berlin has allocated nearly \u20ac300 million to Gaza and the Palestinian Authority, stressing that no solution can be achieved without Palestinian participation, and that peaceful coexistence through a two-state solution remains the only viable path.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hartmann praised Egypt\u2019s role in the Palestinian file, describing it as both \u201cresponsible and wise.\u201d He highlighted Cairo\u2019s mediation efforts with the United States and Qatar, its support for Palestinian reconciliation, as well as its humanitarian assistance and reconstruction plan, which currently forms the basis for ongoing ceasefire negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the recognition of a Palestinian state, the ambassador clarified that Germany views it as the ultimate objective. However, he argued that recognition must be tied to negotiations that lead to a genuine two-state solution, since unilateral recognition today would not change the facts on the ground.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regarding Iran, Hartmann noted that the activation of the \u201csnapback mechanism\u201d last week reinstated the sanctions stipulated in the 2015 nuclear agreement, including arms bans and export restrictions in the nuclear sector.
