{"id":42851,"date":"2026-01-25T15:44:43","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T13:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aldiplomasy.com\/en\/?p=42851"},"modified":"2026-01-25T15:45:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T13:45:17","slug":"when-dawn-bled-in-baku-and-blood-gave-birth-to-a-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aldiplomasy.com\/en\/?p=42851","title":{"rendered":"When Dawn Bled in Baku\u2026 and Blood Gave Birth to a Nation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poetry: Ashraf AboArafe<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>On the twentieth of January,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Baku was no longer a city\u2014<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>it became an open heart beneath the sky,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>bleeding freedom,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>its streets writing in blood<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>the first verse of independence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Tanks arrived in the darkness,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>iron wolves devouring the light<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>in innocent eyes,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>claiming to \u201crestore order,\u201d<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>while murdering a nation<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>so chains might live.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Children fell like flowers in a storm,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>bodies piled like shattered dreams<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>beneath the boots of tyranny.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>More than a hundred souls<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>rose together to the heavens,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>and seven hundred wounds<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>mapped pain<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>across Azerbaijan\u2019s body.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Yet blood was not the end of the story\u2014<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>it was its beginning.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>It became the people\u2019s signature<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>on freedom\u2019s decree,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>a vow never to be broken:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Baku would not be a prison again,<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>nor the nation remain silent.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Poetry: Ashraf AboArafe &nbsp; &nbsp; On the twentieth of January, Baku was no longer a city\u2014 it became an open heart beneath the sky, bleeding freedom, its streets writing in blood the first verse of independence.
