SartEgypt is organising ‘ideation’ sessions and workshops for young professionals in Alexandria and Assuit during the month of July.

On 25 June, StartEgypt collaborated with the Egyptian Ministry for Social Solidarity to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to put their thinking caps on in the ideation session in Beheira.

The sessions and workshops aim to train young professionals on how to develop ideas for socially impactful businesses using a systematic approach. During the session, representatives from StartEgypt will help Egyptians to build the resilience and know-how to start their own business. By the end of the session, participating entrepreneurs will come up with a prototype idea that they can take forward.

StartEgypt Program Director, Hassan Mansi said: “StartEgypt is a holistic programme geared towards entrepreneurs to help them move from the ideas stage through to incubation and acceleration. Serving cities outside Cairo, especially in the Delta and Upper Egypt, has always been a priority for us. Since its inception, StartEgypt has received very creative ideas from the Delta. This year, we are proud to announce that the incubation programme received more than 60% of applications from cities outside Cairo.”

British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams said: “Private businesses that help create social solutions will play a pivotal role in the development of the Egyptian economy. The UK is proud to support such enterprises with programmes such as StartEgypt. This project has supported over 10,000 entrepreneurs and we look forward to seeing it support thousands more in the coming year.”

StartEgypt has received over 1,200 applications for its second incubation cycle. In February, twenty-seven selected start-ups showcased their ideas to high calibre stakeholders and investors during the StartEgypt Forum. The selected companies were chosen from over 1,200 applications who applied to the first incubation cycle in 2018.

The UK-funded programme provides a great opportunity and experience to get inspired and to develop and build start-ups in different industries with social impact, while also connecting to local, regional and international networks.
