FM affirms Egypt’s focus on backing development in Africa

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has highlighted Egypt’s concentration on supporting comprehensive development in the African content.

Shoukry on Wednesday July 17, 2019 met with a delegation of African key media professionals who are currently on a visit to Egypt under the annual program of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).

The meeting touched upon several Africa-related issues in different fields, including peace, security and development.

The minister praised historic ties between Egypt and African countries, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

Shoukry stressed the importance of African common action to find solutions for the continent’s problems and challenges and achieve the goals of Africa’s development Agenda 2063.

The minister added that the delegation’s visit aims to highlight Egypt’s role in the continent and opportunities of cooperation with African countries in different fields.

The delegation members extended thanks to Egypt for warm hospitality, lauding the Egyptian role to support development in Africa under Cairo’s current chairmanship of the African Union.
