KSA showcases its pioneering experience of ‘water sustainability’ at UNWC in New York

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) sheds light on its distinguished experience in the last five years in water sustainability, during its participation in the United Nations Water Conference (UNWC), which will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from March 22 to 24.

During the conference, new initiatives are expected to be announced to help address the challenges facing the least developed countries, as the Kingdom is a major contributor to providing development assistance to many of these countries, in line with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The Kingdom’s delegation participating in the conference is headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani. The delegation includes representatives from the water sector in the Kingdom.

The United Nations had called for the convening of this conference, which was co-hosted by the governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, after the last conference held in 1977, with the aim of accelerating decisive action to address the global water crisis, many of the issues discussed that year remain unresolved. .

The conference seeks to ensure the fulfillment of promises made by countries to develop effective solutions to water crises around the world, while the three days of the opening and closing ceremony will witness (6) plenary sessions, and (5) interactive dialogues for multiple stakeholders, in addition to many side events organized by the conference. Member States, the UN system and other stakeholders.
