British Environment Minister supports future generations in UN Biodiversity Conference

Minister for the Environment Dr Thérèse Coffey spent three days in Egypt participating in the UN Biodiversity Conference. The Minister met Her Excellency the Egyptian Minister of the Environment Dr Yasmine Fouad.

The ministers discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the UK and Egypt.

Minister for the Environment Dr Thérèse Coffey said: “I am delighted to participate in the UN Biodiversity Conference and to meet Minister of the Environment Dr Yasmine Fouad. We are keen to work with leading countries to develop the post 2020 Biodiversity Global Framework to protect the world’s plants and animals”

The minister’s visit comes as the British Embassy is launching a new Inspire Egypt campaign, “Better than Plastic” which aims to raise awareness in the local community on the harmful impacts of single-use plastic and to provide information on alternatives.
