Ambassador Frank Hartmann, the German ambassador to Cairo, expressed his deep regret for what is happening in the Palestinian and Israeli territories and the heavy human and material losses, hoping that stability will return for all in the near future, and that it has become necessary to implement international resolutions such as 242 and Oslo on the basis of a two-state solution according to the 1967 borders, enjoying security and peace. Hartmann said that his country is doing its best to deliver aid to the civilians of Gaza, announcing that the German envoy for humanitarian affairs begins a visit to Egypt today on a tour that includes Jordan to discuss the delivery of humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, water and fuel to operate hospitals, and that bringing in 20 trucks a day through the Rafah crossing is not enough. The humanitarian situation has severely deteriorated in the Gaza Strip.
Hartmann drew attention to the fact that Germany strongly opposes the suffering of the Palestinian people and there is no justification for the unprecedented aerial bombardment of civilians by the Israeli side, especially hospitals, with Israel claiming that there are military bases underneath them. He stressed Germany’s complete agreement with Egypt and Jordan and its categorical rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank. To Egypt and Jordan and the negative effects resulting from that, and this became the subject of an agreement between German Chancellor Olaf Schulz and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The German ambassador called for the need to reduce the escalation between the Palestinians and the Israelis now, warning of its expansion regionally and then globally. This is what the Cairo Peace Summit called for last Saturday with the participation of more than 30 countries.
According to an announcement by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during her recent visit to the Kingdom of Jordan, Hartmann said that Berlin has increased its humanitarian aid to the Palestinians to 250 million euros this year without stopping, and will increase it in the future.
At the level of the Palestinian Authority, Ambassador Hartman called for strengthening its components to improve the performance of its duties throughout Palestine.
Hartmann added that Germany agrees with Egypt on five points regarding the current conflict, namely preventing the continuation of the currently existing humanitarian catastrophe, protecting civilians, delivering humanitarian aid, preventing escalation and stopping its spread in neighboring countries, and being wary of Hezbollah’s intervention to prevent escalation, in addition to preventing human suffering. .
