The Egyptian-Spanish archaeological mission has uncovered a unique tomb during excavation work at Al-Bahnasa archaeological site in Minya.

No tomb of that sort has even been discovered before at this site, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mostafa Waziri said in a press release on Sunday17/5/2020.

It dates back to the Sawy Period aka the Saite period, Waziri noted, adding that no funerary artifacts have been found inside the tomb.

Meanwhile, the head of the joint archaeological mission, led by the University of Barcelona, said that the mission had previously discovered eight Roman tombs with vaulted ceilings at the same site.

The tombs, left without inscription, housed many tombstones, bronze coins, small cruxes and clay stamps that date back to the Roman period.
